Abstract:

In 1994 the insect fauna (Dermaptera; Blattodea; Saltatoria; Raphidioptera; Planipennia; Hymenoptera: Apidae, Chrysididae, Eumenidae, Mutillidae, Myromosidae, Pompilidae, Sphecidae, Vespidae; Mecoptera; Lepidoptera: Rhopalocera; Diptera: Asilidae, Bombyliidae, Conopidae, Stratiomyidae, Syrphidae, Tabanidae) of four heathlands in nature reserve "Luneburger Heide" (Lower Saxony) was investigated using Malaise Trap, coloured dishes and net. 283 species were found. 17% of them are indigenous species in the studied areas. 33% are presumably not indigenous and 50% cannot be estimated. The faunistic results are well corresponding with results of other investigations on heathland in northwestern Germany. Important conditions for the occurrence of the found insects are: the bloom of Calluna vulgaris, areas free of vegetation, and other biotopes in the near vicinity.
