| Abstract: | This book is volume 8 in a multi-volume work which catalogues the main taxonomic, nomenclatorial and distribution data of 25 000 fly species described from the Palaearctic Region. In this volume the families Syrphidae, Pipunculidae and Conopidae are catalogued. For each family, a brief introduction is provided which gives information on the life cycle, distribution and number of species in the family, and describes the adult and (if known) the larva. Extensive references to the literature are given. |
