Lapposyrphus lapponicus (Zetterstedt)
Zetterstedt (1838) described lapponicus as Scaeva. During certain amount of time, it was referred as Syphus lapponicus, but Dusek and Laska (1967) designated this species as the genotype of their new genus Lapposyrphus. Vockeroth (1969) placed Lapposyrphus Dusek and Laska, 1967 as a subgenus of Eupeodes (Vockeroth 1969).
Mengual et al. (2008) included Lapposyrphus lapponicus in their molecular analysis and it was placed as a separate genus, resolved in the same clade as Eupeodes, but closer to Pseudodoros + Simosyrphus + Scaeva. They considered Lapposyrphus as a different genus, as Speight (2010) did.
