SUMMARY
Kryptopyga was based on an Oriental species from Java with a particular abdominal shape. Hull (1949) considered it as a subgenus of Microdon for flies with elongate abdomen, the apex barely wider than the base, with tergum 4 directed vertically downward appearing to be the hypopygium, antennae exceptionally elongate, basoflagellomere many times longer than pedicel, and arista small and lanceolate.
