SUMMARY
Paramicrodon was established for a new species, lorentzi de Meijere, from New Guinea, which differ from Microdon by its short antenna and lack of an appendix on vein R 4+5.(Cheng and Thompson 2008).
Paramicrodon has postpronotum pilose; scape long, much longer than broad; abdomen parallel-sided; occiput broad dorsally, narrow ventrally; transverse suture incomplete medially; anepisternum pilose only on anterodorsal corner and narrowly along posterior edge; metasternum usually pilose; metatibia narrow, without distinct brush of long pile; and vein R4+5 without appendix.
