The subgenus Pseudoscaeva is distinguisehd by metasternum bare, eye bare, antenna short, vein M1 sinuate, metaepisternum bare, wing almost completely bare and ocellar triangle equilateral at acciput margin.
New description:
FEMALE.
Head: Face with facial tubercle, yellow with medial shiny dark vitta, dark maculae dorsad to genal suture, pale pilose, densely white pollinose except medially; gena yellow, white pilose; lunule dark brown; frons yellow on anterior 1/3 with ventral black area (lunule), black on dorsal 2/3 with dense white pollen on lateral margins, black pilose; eye bare; vertical triangle black, black pilose; antenna brown, basoflagellomere orangish ventrally; occiput black, white pollinose, white pilose.
Thorax: Scutum black with bluish iridescence, densely white pollinose anteriorly, with two submedial white pollinose vittae broadly separated, white pilose; postpronotum bare; scutellum yellow, dark on anterior and lateral margins, black pilose, subscutellar fringe complete with yellow pile. Pleuron black with bluish iridescence, except posterior anepisternum yellow on posterior 1/3 and anterior and dorsomedial anepimeron yellow, densely white pollinose medially, white pollinose; anterior anepimeron pilose; metasternum bare; calypter white; plumula white; halter brown, capitulum black; spiracular fringes white. Wing: Wing membrane hyaline, stigma darker; broadly bare with microtrichia on apical and posterior margins. Alula broad, broader than costal cell, mostly bare with microtrichia on posterior margin. Legs: Entirely brown, femora-tibiae joints yellowish, tarsi darker.
Abdomen: Parallel-sided. Dorsum black, white pilose; each terga mate black with bluish pollinose fascia on anterior and posterior margins, except tegum 1 entirely covered by this pollen. Tergum 2 and 5 with two lateral yellow maculae, the ones in tergum 5 triangular; terga 3 and 4 with submedial yellow fascia with emarginated posterior margin, not reaching lateral margins (sometimes narrowly divided medially).
Species described from Villa Padre Monti, Tucuman Province. Only known from Argentina.
